How we get self love

Can anything be better than love, especially self love. Life’s too short not to have it. But how do we go about getting it? It’s not likely that we were taught it, well at least not for many of us. But there are ways to start getting it. And like anything, practice makes self love easier and easier. Until it becomes a habit.


One of the best ways to start self love, is to be kind. Not just kind to others. What I mean is to start by being kind to your own thoughts in your mind. To recognize when a thought isn’t very kind. And to be gentle with yourself for having those thought. But to stop them and apologize to yourself for having that thought. For this is softest to yourself. A loving kindness to yourself. And most importantly, it’s a start to a self love.

Thoughts are so powerful. We don’t even realize the damage we do to ourselves by letting negative thoughts get through. And then we curse at the negative thoughts thinking this will change them. It will not. No matter how mad you get at yourself. No matter how loud you scream at yourself. How loud you scream inside your own mind. Nothing changes. But it does begin with you. Being kind to your thoughts is were this starts. It’s a re-training of your mind. At first, you won’t feel like it’s doing any good. But this is where the practice begins. And before you know it, you’ll soon realize those unkind thoughts are starting to fade.


Accepting what your feeling may just be an emotion that needs to pass through you. In order to do that you must sit with that emotion, that feeling, feel it in your body. It’s not going to kill you. I know it feels like it might. But trust yourself. And that feeling will pass through you with little effect on you once it’s pasted. Making you realize there is peace. You can be at peace with yourself. It’s what allows yourself to just be. This is why medidation works so well for people. It’s about sitting with yourself, allowing feelings and thoughts to past through you.
